either the management is dishonest, or just highly ineffective. went there for a happy-hour last Friday based off their website advertising $0.99 and $1.99 appetizers. friend's friend just went the week before and vouched for it too (proof that it DID exist!). even our TABLE had the same happy hour menu still on display. except that when we went to order, the waitress regrettably told us that "oh...no, we are actually changing our menu this week, so we're no longer serving that." and she just left at that, maybe with a "sorry" somewhere. i'm sorry, but that's really not good enough to impress a new customer. given that friend's friend did have success with the happy hour a week prior, and assuming their menu change didn't JUST happen at 4pm on a Friday, i would suppose the management had at least a few days in between to get rid of those no-longer available menus, both off their tables and website. i'll give you some leeway for the website removal since it might not be under your direct control (still), but it really shouldn't be that much effort to remove an insert from a two-ring Rolodex type of special menu display, right? (they have, what, 20 tables in the whole place? it would take 10 minutes to do it all.) at least remove that menu RIGHT NOW as you speak! or else, honor what's still on display! sadly, the management did neither, but rather just sent their soldiers out to tell customers to suck it up. come to think of it, how do we even know if we're not the only table that's being told this for one reason or another? not a very happy hour for us, indeed. what's more, it appeared that only one waitress was working at least 8 tables that were occupied at the time, while there seemed to be an affluent amount of staff floating around the bar, hostess stand, etc. there was a certain wait time to pass between getting our drinks, and our waitress's return to take our food order. the appetizers came out pretty quickly in between, so it wasn't that kitchen was busy. more like our waitress was overworked and abused by an ineffective management. we were seriously at the verge of leaving without ordering our entrees. all in all, food was not horrible, just not worth the time and money spent. most importantly, the way we were told that we now had to pay $10.99 for the same crab cakes (really less than ordinary, btw) rather than $1.99, the scenery just changed very quickly from that moment on--bitter taste in the mouth before we even started, and the rest of the food wasn't enough to save the mood. a soup was put on the bill despite never making it to our table, too; waitress did take it off when we pointed it out. the whole meal, at that premium price vs. meh quality, just left a LOT to be desired. mostly, it's the management leading to the level of service that i'm not very happy about. oh yeah, on my way out, i passed by the hostess stand, one of the MANY staff standing there decided to be courteous and said "hello" to me instead of "thank you, come again". urrrrr??? hey management, you wanna take that one for the road?

Came in with a group of family in Monday afternoon, and Chad at the bar treated us like HIS family. Set up a nice champagne toast for our good news and was very attentive and helpful, dealing with our multiple types of shots. Great vibe here and the food was amazing! Get here!

Enjoyed the food my aunt, cousin and I had this past Sunday at the brunch that was awesome! Nice asortment of breakfast items (pancakes, French toast, eggs, bacon, etc) available to choice from and the price of $12.99 per person was reasonable for the amount of food, inclunding beverages served.

Four of us were at Capt. Fishbone's last night and we had a wonderful time and great food. We started with the clam chowder which was very thick and rich with a croissant cracker in the shape of fish. We had steamers which were excellent and then we had a fisherman's platter that had just enough food for two people. The grilled sesame salmon was also an excellent dish. Our waitress, Mary, did a great job and was a lot of fun to talk with. All in all we would highly recommend Capt. Fishbone's for dinner.

Love the Sunday Brunch Buffet!! Great view and we sat at the bar as there was a wait.

Had a couple of excellent Sunday brunches here. Top of the line! Went one night for dinner outside on the boardwalk. Maybe seafood is their only specialty because the chicken parm was just okay.

It was fine. Food ok, service fine. Nothing to write home about. View was nice if you could get a seat outside. We found one but we were over on the side. We mostly came for the seafood so I will say that the lobster tacos were quite good. The lobster sliders were meh. All in all, I'd give this place a solid meh. Fine, but nothing special.

I went here for my birthday. They were the only restaurant in Quincy I could get to take a reservation for 14 people and I'm so glad we went! The manager was very accommodating. Tim was our waiter and he was amazing! Great personality and great at his job. We went back the following week and asked for him. Tim remembered us down to the exact drink orders and food orders we had placed the week before. I'm a server and I was extremely impressed. This is by far my favorite restaurant in the Quincy area. Great food for great prices, and a great environment and staff. The outdoor patio is awesome if you can snag a seat out there!

Nice bar outside to sit and look at boats. They also have TVs. The only problem is that it's too small! Happy hour specials until 6 - didn't have a chance to try them.

I can't speak for the food here because after waiting almost 45 minutes it never came. Perhaps if I wasn't 7 months pregnant this wouldn't bother me so much but under the circumstances I just couldn't wait another moment. Our server was not even slightly apologetic as he explained to us that they were too busy due to all the other restaurants in the area being without power. I can be very forgiving and patient, but our server was really really awful. After ordering drinks it was a good 20 minutes before he came to take our food order. Then as I mentioned before we waited 45 minutes for the food that never came out. He never once stopped by in all that time to refill our drinks and really didn't seem to care much that we had waited so long. When finally we decided to leave he told us he was sending the manager over. We didn't wait to speak to the manager I was queasy with hunger at that point. The 2 stars is for the lovely ambiance. Hopefully next time I visit Marina Bay anyplace else will be open.

A nice place to sit at the marina. The food choices are very plain. The scrod was not bad, but there were no real alternatives. My company had shell fish allergies. I don't care for fried food. On the drink side: The Margarita tasted like standard mix. Wine choices were not great. Verdict: Nice to sit outside, but not worth a major detour.

Saturday night. Group of 10. Ordering delayed for 45 minutes because the kitchen was backed up. Been waiting now 3 hours for food. So far, not a fan.

Sunday Buffett brunch 10am - 2pm for $10.99. Brunch was average. Eggs dry and not very hot, per my bf. I ordered a special egg white omlette with spinach and peppers , no butter or milk (I can't do dairy) and it was quite delicious! I recommend it if you want something on the lighter side yet still satisfying. Good spot for a few beers after boating!

I want to start off by saying that if I was rating on food exclusively I would have rated this restaurant at least a 4. Great food in my opinion. I came w my wife and we sat at the bar for a few drinks and we had planned to sit at a table after and order food. We stayed at the bar for the reason my rating is a 2. There was a waitress who was so obnoxious I couldn't even risk sitting at a table. I saw her actually shove a coworker out of her way and then give the girl an attitude. My wife is a salon owner, so I know women can be difficult when working together, but this girl caught our attention. We watched her pull her friend over numerous times and whisper, whisper, whisper. How rude. Who knows what she was only saying, clearly if you have to whisper and then laugh while rolling your eyes it's nothing good. I felt bad for the girl she seemed to be bullying. The bar tender was really nice so we ate at the bar, which we never typically do. The woman's name was celia, or cecile. She had glasses and if you do eat there beware where you sit bc if your waited on by her you can guarantee she's going to put on a smile at your table and then run to her friends and in some way talk about you or her coworkers. She's the girl who would spit in your burger if you said it was cooked wrong. I'm surprised she even has a job bc the other employees seemed very professional and upbeat. She really hit a nerve w my wife and I. She's lucky I'm not her boss bc she would have been fired that day. Other than her and the cleanliness needing improvement as an overall a nice summer spot.

Service was great. Friendly waitress. Food was not good at all. Had the swordfish and Crab Cakes. Swordfish was bland and not seasoned at all. The Crab Cakes were also bland and mushy. I've bad better crab cakes from the Frozen Section from Costco. Food is definitely not worth the trip but the view and boardwalk is.

I've gone to this place like 6 or 7 times, and have never been pleased with the food. It's always been 'fair'. I've gotten dinner, lunch, appetizer's, entrees, just about everything. And the bar kinda sucks, too. The one type of setting this place is good for... summer afternoon, after work for drinks on the deck... Other than that, not a fan.

Nice location but horrible and disorganized staff!! Made reservation ahead of time, when I got there I checked in with the hostess outside who told me to check in with the host inside since i had a reservation. Well, the the host inside was nowhere in sight for about 10 minutes, instead a rude waiter told me to go back outside and check in there. When finally got seated - inside, had to wait for good 45 min for food to be served and food was not great at all. Will not be returning to a place with rude staff and just average food. That is too bad because the location is pretty cool!

We went for dinner tonight and it was a nice laid back place. the food is ok but the wait staff and the ambiance were great. You have to have the cantaloupe martini, it was delicious. My husband had the cucumber martini and he liked it too.

Was taking a boating course one weekend so we ended up hitting this place for lunch on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was completely empty and we were served right away. We loved our server, she was friendly with the right amount of sass. Ordered the cajun fish and chips, which seemed to be regular fish filets covered in dry seasoning after they were cooked. Not so great. Sunday we went back and the server remembered us by saying "Not you guys again!" We all got the brunch buffet, which was typical, but hit the spot. Omelets to order were the star of the show, but there was also pancakes, potatoes, muffins and the rest of the usual stuff. Potatoes could have used some more cook time, but other than that we left happy.

It's really unfortunate that the day we planned a party at this beautiful waterfront restaurant turned out to be 55 degrees and windy. Not to be deterred, we stormed the bar and pulled a bunch of tables over to the window (and the staff was very nice about it). We started by ordering nachos and spinach/artichoke dip for the table. I was very happy with both. I was even more happy with my friend's explanation of how spinach dip is exactly like eating a salad. (I didn't believe her; that's not the point.) I couldn't decide between the prime rib and brie sandwich on croissant (yum!) or the fish tacos. Thankfully, neither could my friend, so we split both. I'm not really sure what happened, but there really wasn't very much brie on my sammich. I found that rather disappointing. I was actually wondering if they accidentally swapped it with my friends, because she wasn't really clear when ordering. We ordered veggies instead of french fries, but it was.... Ok. It looked like cucumbers and lemons, which I found quite confusing. It turned out to be mostly squash, which I also don't eat. The fish tacos came with coleslaw. I still can't believe that places are trying to pass coleslaw off as edible, but, to be fair, that's my issue as much as theirs. Overall, the food was good, the staff was attentive, the view was beautiful, and the atmosphere was fun.

I have frequented Capt Fishbones over a decade now. I don't routinely go there because it's quite expensive and I've had better food at that price. Location and view wise: excellent. Food: not so much... My most recent experience from last week was a disappointment. I had the crab cake dinner (not the appetizer). It came out as a little overcooked, not enough crab meat and with too much breading. I couldn't taste any crab at all, actually. I could kind of see it but it was mixed in very well with the breading. It tasted bland. I felt like they were highlighting the breading, instead of the crab. I can't say that I am always disappointed when I go there but I can say that I am never impressed by their food. TLDR: For 3 crab cakes that cost $18 and was full of breading, it was not worth it and I wish I chose a different dish.

Service has always been touch and go here. But the past year we had good service until last night. Was my husband's birthday and he wanted lobster. Did not go in the front door where the lobster tank was so was not sure if they had them. Was a tuesday night and not busy at all. Hostess sat us and we asked her if they had lobsters. Ah I don't know but will find out. Know that you are not a server but when you walked in for work you did not notice if there were lobsters in the tank? So she leaves then seats another table behind us. Walks away ok so much for getting back to us. We then see her talking to three wait staff at the hostess desk. Don't think she was asking them about the lobster (ahhh). The server takes the order behind us does not even talk to us. Can see if he is buys but tell us you will be with us shortly. After about five minutes we got up and walked out. Husband did not want this on his birthday. The staff was still all chatting by the desk and did not seem to care that we got up and left. Went to another restuarant at marina bay and had are lobsers and wonderful service. This hostess also knew right away that they had lobsters.

Went here with my husband and his co workers and of course I checked Yelp out before going and I was already expecting the worst. I have to say it wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. The hostess outside was going to sit us outside which was a gorgeous setting but there was five of us and the table they tried to put us out was more comfortable for three and tight for four, no thank you. We decided to sit inside and I really didn't get a good look of the inside since we were right by the door but didn't bother me we had a very spacious table. I ordered a margarita and it was pretty watered down and looked like I made it using a home blender (you know with the mix at the bottom of the glass and an ice slush at the top) I wouldn't recommend. Food- To start, one of his co workers suggested the stuffed quahog, which was my favorite part of the meal. It looks like a stuffed clam and I'm still not sure what quahog is or what it really tastes like but mixed with their stuffing, it was delish! Meals- One ordered their chicken parm over ziti- the woman seemed to enjoy it but I'm from NJ/NY and this looked like a over sized chicken patty covered with cheese and really red sauce drizzled over it, there didn't look like there was enough sauce for the pasta but I really can't tell you what it tasted like. Husband had their buffalo chicken sandwich, it's his go to sammie anywhere we go where he doesn't feel confident in trying anything on the menu. He said it was ok but his bun was over toasted and tasted and felt stale. I got the fried shrimp since I read before going people said their fried food is the way to go and it was good, came with fries which were hot and yummy but I have had better, however after seeing the other plates ordered I feel i made the best choice. I cant remember what the other two got but doesn't matter anyway, I can't tell you if it tasted good. I wouldn't come back for a dinner but maybe the view outside, a beer (should be safe right?) and those delicious stuffed quahog which were like 1.49 each - well worth it! visited-8-15-13

We had always been a fan of Fishbones- mostly in the summer for their outdoor seating and outdoor bar. However, our last visit really left a bad taste in my mouth. It was later in the evening (7:30) and we walked in and waited about 5 minutes for a host to come by. I excused myself to use the restroom, saying that I would find them when I was done. Came out and STILL no one had checked in. We waited another few minutes for a host or waitress, or anyone, to greet us. I eventually had to walk into the dining room and asked to be helped. Service was less than par- she took a long time to wait on us, and never asked if we would like refills on drinks- my mother in law was clearly finished with her tea only halfway through her meal. Short black hair in soda glass. It happens, but it was still not fun to dish out. We ordered wine, and our wine glasses were placed in front of us dripping wet. I get the fact that this isn't an 5 star restaurant, but what waitress doesn't know to wipe down the wine glasses? The food was just bad. My husband and I ordered the baked stuffed scrod and it was FISHY. I almost sent it back, but really, really just wanted to have a pleasant evening. Broccoli was bland- steamed with no seasoning. The only time our waitress was pleasant was when she dropped the credit card receipt. Like, "Ok, look how nice I was, leave me a good tip now". This place is fine if you're ordering burgers and fried fish and looking to have a beer or two. If you want proper service and a decent piece of fish, head down the boardwalk, because you won't find it here.

I was really wow'd by this restaurant. We had delicious stuffed quahogs to start, and then I had some of the best fish tacos I've ever had. The place was casual and friendly and comfortable. Prices were reasonable and the food amazing. It looks like they have some off-season specials too which I look forward to trying.

I really like this place! I gave it 3 stars because the prices are a bit high for dinners. The atmosphere is cool, sits right on the marina and has a wall of windows so you can see the water from everywhere! The food is good! I have had the fish tacos (not my favorite ever but tasty) and the swordfish, which was GREAT off of the main course menu. Appetizers - I love the oysters and the seafood tower. The only thing I didn't love about the appetizers is that everything comes in odd numbers so when you are splitting things with a friend, its pretty inconvenient. Saturday and sunday they have the breakfast buffet which is amazing! The price includes not only the items on the buffet but also other items that are prepared fresh and brought out to you! Its great, its like you get to have a breakfast appetizer before your french toast arrives. Loved it.

We were craving for some seafood like we usually do when sun is shining bright in Quincy. We took a little drive to the Marina Bay and headed over to Captain Fishbone's. It was recommended by a few people and decided to finally stop in. It's right at the end of Victory Road and you have to look for the sign. It's not a really obvious location. I almost walked into the salon next door when I realized it was the wrong door. We were seated quickly by a friendly hostess. He took us towards the back of the restaurant, by the bar, where you can see all of the Marina Bay. It was about 5:30pm and they had the "Early Bird Special" menu going on. Monday through Friday from 11:30am-6pm they have select menu items from $8.99-$10.99. Appetizers .99 and 1.99 available with the purchase of two beverages. Not bad, I'll take it! Now getting the menu was quick and easy, but that was the only quick part of this dining experience. We didn't see a waitress for another 10 minutes. She finally showed up with a trainee behind her and took our drinks orders. We asked her about the appetizer specials and she didn't really remember what was exactly included in the specials. The only reason why I had known about it was because I had seen it on their menu online. She said their was supposed to be an appetizer menu on the table but continued to try to remember off the top of her head. She didn't even bother trying to find the menu for us - so we just chose what she offered us. We picked the double fried chicken buffalo wings. She then disappeared... her trainee came by and dropped off our drinks and ran off quickly.. We waited for another 15 min and another waitress showed up with a big plate of wings. I have to say, those wings for were goooddddd!!! They had a crunchy exterior but the inside was juicy. These were jumbo size wings. The buffalo was not too hot and it came with a side of blue cheese Not bad for 1.99! But we were still waiting for our waitress to take our entree orders. It was 5:55 already and even the hostess who seated us came up to us and asked if we'd been helped yet. We said we haven't seen the waitress to make our orders. We weren't upset or anything- just concerned. She showed up and made a comment like "Must be in a rush huh?" Ummm no ma'am.. actually we just wanted to make our entree orders. We ordered and she says "Just made it for Early Bird Special" - Well, we were here since 5:30pm.. I would've hoped so. I ordered the Fish tacos and the hubby had the Fried shrimp with fries. I can not complain about the food one bit here. We enjoyed it all. The fish was nicely cooked and flaky. Not overly breaded. The pickled slaw was nice. The fried shrimp were huge! Just great. The food almost makes up for the lack of service we received and would consider coming back in the summer! The view is great and the food is good. 3.5 stars !!!

Captain Fishbone's is one of my husband's favorite restaurants in Marina Bay. The menu offers much to choose from, but we usually go with the seafood dishes...the clam chowder is thick and meaty, just how I like it! The lobster is market fresh and all sides are always good too. Many different places to dine, no matter what the season...an outdoor area right on the dock overlooking the marina, spots around the bar or a more intimate-like dining room indoors with large windows. Check it out!

Caught dinner with some friends here last nite. The weather was nice enough that we could dine outside, which is outside but you are under a tent like cover. If we had known better, we would've moved to the patio deck and ate by the outdoor bar patio area. This places offers something for everyone. You don't have to order seafood as they offer burgers, pastas, and salads. I opted for the swordfish special which was lemon and black pepper encrusted with mashed potatoes. I devoured it in minutes because I was so hungry. It was ok, the mashed potatoes could've been a little more garlicky and/or buttery and a little warmer. The swordfish was pretty good though. My friends ordered the crabcakes and he said his mom makes better ones. My other friends each order the baked haddock and claimed it was nothing special. Service here was good, our waitress was nice. When it was time to pick up the bill, we each had 20s and gave the waitress extra hoping she would give us change and know to split a 20 up. In return we got back one of our 20s...duh!!! The prices here are a tad cheaper than Legal Seafoods but I felt had the same lack luster quality. After dinner, we went out on the patio deck and had some drinks and bought some cigars from the pizza shop down the boardwalk. Overall, a good evening and sitting by the water made up for the lackluster food.

Great spot on the water to enjoy some beers with friends. We were out on the back deck overlooking the marina and it was insanely crowded, packed ass cheek to ass cheek. I feel bad for the people dining out there because while you are enjoying your lobster or clam chowder you got some bar fly's ass jammed in the back of your neck. The crowds seem to come and go with the tide, crowded one minute, not crowded the next. Nothing spectacular, but it's far from ghetto. The parking situation is insane - you almost have to follow someone to their car to get a space, but once you find a spot you feel like one of Christ's Elect getting into Heaven.

I love the outdoor seating area here on the marina. A great location and a great set up. Food has always been tastey but expensive. It's Marina Bay though so what can you expect? I only come here in the good weather because of the outdoor seating it really makes it worth it.

Great atmosphere, so-so food. As with most Boston places, avoid the baked scallops. They murder those poor things. Decent chowder, though.

Since we are about to move over to Marina Bay, we have visited Fishbones a few times and haven't been disappointed. I'll start by suggesting the Sunday brunch for 10.99 is well worth it. Fresh omelets and everything else is served. Dinner menu is very good with not just fish, but a good variety. Chinese Chicken salad is delicious as well. It's a slight bit pricey, but then again you're not eating at chain restaurant where the food is prepackaged and measured before cooking. Only complaint, service is a bit slow.

Went here for Father's day - as my parents love Marina Bay. While the setting is rather pretty, this place is absolutely average at best. The servers were pleasant enough but the air conditioning was cranked up ( we commented 3x that it was ridiculously cold - it wasn't just us two other tables adjacent to us made the same comment). The Father's day brunch at 17.99 per person was simply awful; stale muffins, a terrine of eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns and overcooked eggs benedict on untoasted muffins. It's a shame because Marina Bay is a nice setting. But just about every place there is awful. I can't honestly recommend that you go here for any other reason than to admire the boats.

4 oyster shaped stars, + 1 pilsner glass-shaped star !!! THAT'S RIGHT PORCUPINE, Captain Fishbone's of Mareeener Bay in Quincy. Outdoor deck/bar, AND an outdoor dining area. Good pizza, good seafood. If it's gael force winds, hunker down indoors with a cheese wheel or cup uh chowda. If it's GORGEOUS out, head straight to the bar area or get a table under the comfortable sun/shade. Watch mortgage brokers taking their drug dealer friends out for a smuggling cruise on the go-fast or "cigarette" boat as they're called, sip a brew, enjoy the sun, and if you're wont to do so, get some dang oysters, Charlie. On my last day of work after getting laid off on June 29, 2007, a crew of us former life insurance factory workers came down here and ripped up for a few hours. It was a dry 82 degrees and I was wearing my legendary orange shorts. About 3 tall draughts into our stay, I summoned the bartendress! "I say, Lindsay, hath ye any bivalves??!?!?!?!" "WHY YES, James! They are 6 schillings for the same number." "By the tendrils of the beard of Zeus! Bring me a dozen please, and YES, do pull another 500 milliliters of your Hoegaarden. The Belgians have done it again! And quite frankly, I've grown W E A R Y of using the English pint system!"

Bad experience here today; I don't plan on going back. Several days ago my wife made breakfast reservations for Mother's Day. She checked out the menu online, which was expansive and affordable, but when we arrived we were told that they only had an $18-a-person brunch buffet. The tables were so close together that the lady whose chair was behind my wife's had to stand up to let her out every time she went to the buffet. The meat station was right by the door, which, on a blustery 46-degree day, made for cold (not to mention flavorless) roast beef. The coffee was poor. Orange juice was extra. They didn't take Discover. Outside of the beef, the rest of the food was good. But it was so crowded at the single, small buffet table that it was hard to get through the line and back to your table with a hot plate of food. Overall, I can't recall ever having a poorer $18 meal.

Went here with a friend on a Wednesday afternoon around 5 to enjoy the warm day and some sunshine. We got a table right on the water at the outdoor patio area, and it was great to be overlooking the marina. The waitress was attentive and very helpful. We each had a burger, mine medium rare, hers medium. Both were cooked how we wanted, which is always a plus. I ordered a raspberry colada at one point, and this i was not happy with. It wasn't creamy like pina coladas are, but instead just tasted like melted ice with some flavor. Although.. it did come out with whipped cream on it, so i am not going to complain that much..:)

I've been here often for food and/or drinks. Generally, it's decent food, good drinks, at a great spot. I think they have the best outdoor seating on the whole of Marina Bay, though I haven't been inside Ocean Club in eons. This time, just last week, I was there to gather with a friend who I had seen in a while, have some drinks and enjoy an app or two. After looking over the average menu choices, we decided on fried calamari (with banana peppers - which is a bonus in my mind) and the cobb salad to split. There's a fun full bar drink menu as well as frozen drinks, but I generally skip those. It was actually very good. This is not fancy food, but it's not trying to be. It's casual & it generally doesn't disappoint unless you go there looking for something else. The service has always been friendly, going out of their way to let us know we are not rushed and that they'll let us be if that's what we preferred. Also, the portions are generous. We split both items and I had enough to have lunch the following day from the salad and a mini snack with the calamari (toaster oven - not microwaved of course.)

Am from out of town, and was looking for a decent seafood dinner near my hotel on a Thursday evening. My expectations were not sky-high, but they were exceeded. Shrimp cocktail was fresh, lobster ($20 for 1 1/4 lb) ditto, and the mudd pie I had for dessert delicious. Service was good despite having a trainee waitress (she did her best and was very friendly and helpful). Would return.

Location, location. Absolutely wonderful. We only go when we can eat outside. They should really do discount coupons/Restaurant.com/etc. in the yucky weather months since the food is essentially good but not good enough to draw someone to drive all the way out there. I like basic/not overly gourmet/spicy food, so I like it. Portions are a wee small, though. One of the few places I don't end up with leftovers. The only thing not so great - the prices (see coupon suggestion above). On a perfect summer night outside I don't mind paying a little extra because the ambience is wonderful. And compared to Siros, the place is a bargain, LOL. Our service has always been good to excellent. They also do a great breakfast - though a bit expensive, LOL. Yet, again, worth it on a nice summer day.

Hopped in to this gorgeous location for the first time this afternoon, based on my girlfriends recommendation.. All I can say, I was super happy. We arrived around 3:45 and it was jam packed. We walked around the back to the small bar they have outside situated right on the bay. Now, in the summer, I am a sucker for these places and the view from this bar, as well as all the outside seating does not disappoint. We put our name in and was given what always seems to be the standard 25 minute wait. We got lucky, two stool near the bar opened. I hopped over to the seats and mission "adult beverage" was under way. I was as happy as the proverbial pig in, well, you know.. Sun shining, great view of the bay, nice cold beer on the way.. Still on the way.. Still waiting.. Sun still feels real good! Still waiting.. If I could not actually see my GF standing there waiting I would have thought she had wandered off with many of the clearly "well off" individuals at this location. Anyway, after about 10 minutes she finally got a beer. We sat on out stools, enjoyed the view and waited for a friend of ours to arrive. She arrived, got a beer (a little faster than we had made out) and she joined us. I mean, the patio was busy, but NOT that busy, and there were two bartenders working, just super slow and seemed a bit lazy. Now, Sure enough, right at 25 minutes our name is called. We are seated by a very personable hostess, right next to the bay, great view and our waitress (Michelle) was right there at our table. We looked over the menu, I love seafood and basically knew what I wanted. Michelle was right back to our table, extremely personable, efficient, really one of the better servers I have encounter in some time. Anyway, my GF ordered the sesame chicken fingers, our friend ordered clam chowder, as well as myself, and I ordered a clam roll as well. Michelle, our server, was very attentive, we never waited for drinks and our apps, the chowder, was to our table very quickly. The chowder was a perfect temperature, creamy and loaded with clams, flavored nicely. Next, the sesame chicken and clam roll arrived. MY GF said the chicken was perfect, moist, delicious flavor, just raves about them. My clam roll was very good. They were breaded nicely and a perfect golden brown, bursting with flavor. My only complaint, one of them was still pretty "dirty" and not enough clams. Now, for the price (13.99) they probably can't afford to put much more, but would be nice to see a little bit more on the plate. I can't say enough about our server, this is how service should be. Should the owner or GM read this latest review, give Michelle at least a pat on the back. I observe a lot of things, she was very efficient, motoring all over the place, personable, just great. And, we asked for the bill and had it almost immediately, a lot of places, you ask for the check, you're waiting a bit.. Highly recommend.. Below based on five stars SERVICE **** (would be five but bartenders knock this down a star) FOOD **** ATMOSPHERE ***** LOCATION ***** PRICE **** OVERALL ****

the food was really disappointing! the lemonade was too water down. The fish was over cooked and the pasta was way too oily. Oh well, I guess I learn my lesson. But the service wasn't bad at all.

During the Summer, it gets super busy on weekends here and clearly has an impact on service. But they still have been pretty consistent over the years. They have competition all around here in Marina Bay. And they do a good job keeping up. Appetizers are pretty standard. And so is the sea food. It is never disappointing. Perfect to go after work if you work in North Quincy. The bar inside is pretty much a hangout of localites. Good ol peeps from Quincy (like me!) Only suggestion for the management - Please add on to the beer / micro brew / draft selection.

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. The customer service was absolutely horrible! The hostess was beyond rude. The waiter kicked us out of our table because we didn't want to eat the breakfast buffet at 3 pm- Which we were never told we had to do when we were sat. We were ordering drinks and agreed to get food at 4 when the normal menu was available, but we were then kicked out of our table with full drinks. Had to stand and finish them awkwardly to the side. The waiter was so rude to us the entire time. We went to the water club instead and had GREAT customer service. We will not be back to captain fish bones ever again. But we recommend everywhere else in the area.

I went here on 5/30/15 with three friends. We split the bill three ways by handing out server three cards and she charged them equally.... However, our server charged us all the full amount of the check plus the amount after we split it. The full amount of the check is listed as a pending charge on my account, so I know it will go back into my account, but it's been nearly a week now that it has been "pending," and I've been put out of MY MONEY. I understand mistakes are part of being human, but I was never informed of the server's mistake before leaving the place. I called on 6/1/15 and was told by the guy on the phone that "my server should have told me" and that was it. I'm very disappointed that's the kind of service I received since this really is the only place down Marina Bay that I go to most of the time. Update: The general manager here is very professional and quickly responded to my complaint in a great way. I will definitely be returning here because it is so close to home and it is also hard to pass up with the great view and food they have here. Thank you!

Classic decent affordable seafood restaurant. You're not getting anything mind blowing-ly good or innovative, but I've never left hungry. The staff are hit or miss. Some are great, friendly, and quick, some just don't care much. The outdoor area is great for summer nights and Marina Bay is very convenient as opposed to going into Boston on the weekends. My advice though, skip the breakfast buffet. It was mediocre catered food and I didn't eat much of it. Good mimosas though--unfortunately not included in the buffet price.

Overalll good. I can't complain but I can't rave with only sampling the steamer calms and house salad. Perhaps on another business trip here I will stop again and update. The clams where fresh as you would expect. The house salad was huge. The value was good. Market price on the clams was $20. I can't complain there. Overall the ambiance was nice. Too hot to sit outside on the boardwalk. The waitstaff (Sarah and Meghan) were very good, accommodating and attentive but not intrusive. Being from Wisconsin and with the weather hot I was thirsty for a Yuengling as I can't get that at home and I was disappointed they didn't have that. Because of the view and staff, I would stop back again when I am in the area again.

My mom and I went here after a few hours at Castle Island and really enjoyed ourselves. We sat outside by the marina and the view was wonderful. I got one of the salads, which was unique and delicious. My mom got the fried clams and was pleased both by the portion and how good they were. Our waiter was extremely friendly and attentive. Definitely a great place to go on a sunny day. They also have a good deal on beer buckets.

I can understand others comments about the service, but the food was surprisingly delicious! I came here last weekend, and when we first entered, the host sat us at a table. We then noticed outside seating and asked if we could sit outside. The waiter went outside and asked the hostess out there, and long story short, we were able to snag a table. Definitely worth it to sit outside. It was a beautiful night out! When we walked outside, the hostess there was definitely not a ripe peach, she didn't even smile. And the waiter was a bit awkard, not great customer service skills but I tend to review more on the food anyways. I had the salmon with rice and veggies... the salmon was cooked PERFECTLY and the sauce on top was very yummy! My boyfriend got the fish tacos and he said they were excellent as well. We both got wine, and I had a coupon for a free entree. I think it came to around $40 with that coupoin. Either way, it was a great time and delicious food. Service is sub-par but the food is worth it! We will definitely be back!

Great Sunday brunch here, with a good balance of breakfast food and lunch food. Omelette station and fresh made waffles with tons of toppings really made it the perfect kind of buffet. The staff was all really nice and we didn't have to wait for a table. I hope to go back and take advantage of the outdoor seating in a few weeks. The price was totally reasonable for the amount of food and variety they have.

First warm day after a terrible winter. I was so excited to try their lobster taco and had to admit I had some excellent preconceptions based on other restaurants I have been to. Worst lobster "anything" I have ever had! Lobster "salad" at stop and shop self serve would have been better! It was served on a cold tortilla straight out of the plastic bag, layered with a THICK layer of chopped iceberg lettuce that had that "Refridgerator taste". Lobster salad and a couple of limp chopped winter tomatoes. Slaw on the side which was gross. Yes I ate it. No I did not complain. Just no artistry! Two little cups of sour cream and salsa (from a jar). So so disappointing. Could have done better myself by far! Come on people! I get there is a good view! But do a little more with the food you create! Service was below standard: "rushed" and inauthentic!

We live nearby so we've been to Captain Fishbones quite a few times and have tried their dinner specials, brunch, random summer days on the water and random winter days at the bar. All solid experiences but last night really topped it for me. They hosted my husband's surprise 40th birthday and I was impressed by everything. The staff was great (particularly Maria, who patiently dealt with about 30 bar tabs!) and they were so flexible. They made it easy for me to enjoy myself at the party and not have to stress about the details. I got great feedback from all of the guests on the food and the location. Thanks, Fishbones!

Customer service was absolutely horrible , very unwelcoming staff , need a course on how to smile and treat customers Customer service 101 appears all the attention goes to those who sit at the bar paying $10 drink prices, came for Mothers day , not even a flower or gesture from anyone on staff to acknowledge dear old mom ( in her 80's) waited awhile for food, servers, just dropped off food "Here is the chicken! Here is the soup! They were grabbing tables left and right bumping into customers after clearing the earlier breakfast brunch section. Food okay steak had lots of fat and not cooked as ordered, waitress never bothered to ask how is everything , water refills do not happen unless you stand and hold your glass up. Only positive was the sun was shinning and leaving this place to walk on the boardwalk. Go elsewhere for food, unless you want to just drink at the bar , then the poor customer service might not be an issue.

Used to love it here! Walked in last time to the hostess stand and was greeted with "im not the hostess" There were 4 of us. The wrong meal came for 2 of us. The meals that were correct were cold and poor quality. Service not good, staff not empathetic. Didn't care. Miss the old Fishbones!!

I can't not give this place 5 stars, despite that the actually stellar items on the menu are so limited. This is because the two items that are so amazing happen to be two of my favorite things in the world: steamers & lobster. And, seeing that I am such a lover of these two splendid delicacies, you should definitely take me on my word when I say that Capt Fishbones does an amazing job with them. They have the lowest prices for lobster that I've seen on the eastern seaboard, and they are ALWAYS super fresh. (You can tell by antenna length. The longer a lobster sits in the tank, the more that the other lobsters chew away at his antennas. Poor lobster!) They also do an amazing job cleaning the lobsters, which is HUGE to me. There is nothing sadder than me losing my appetite due to an especially poopy lobster, haha! The steamers, too, are always pretty clean with great flavor & stuffing. They used to have awesome shrimp cocktail, but just this summer stopped serving the jumbo shrimp & actually raised the price. Wtf is up with that? Still, though, not worth taking a star away from them. I love the outside patio & live music too!

Average bordering on less than average--the 99 or Applebee's just might have enough in them to give Captain Fishbone's a run for their money. You would think that a place that bills itself as a seafood place, with "Captain" in its name, and sits directly next to the water would have fresh seafood. Not at all! Tonight, as evidence, was served frozen calamari, frozen swordfish and frozen salmon. A trifecta! All three were over-cooked, way too hot, and dried out--probably because they started, you guessed it, from frozen! Should have known better, as place was virtually empty at dinner-time on a Saturday night. Staff was friendly, however seemed more interested in socializing with regular patrons. Oh, and of complaining about Obama's recent stance on immigration. A+ though to the kid who worked there who had the courage to put those complainers in place.

We went for Sunday Brunch. A very good value for $10/pers with the usual assortment of brunch food - omelets made to order, fruit, bacon, eggs (scrambles and benedict), potatoes, scallops and chicken broccoli ziti and more. The only complaint with the food is the homefries (potatoes) that were bland. The service was terrible though. Had to find someone to seat us and to serve us drinks. As I said before, price is good, though drinks are not included.

Location, location, location!! The Pluses - The view is great!! Lots of outdoor seating. Server was good. Good beer selection. Great people watching on Sat. night! The Minuses - The food! There were several competitors for 'worst dish of the night' at our table. My advice - Go for the harbor view, but stick with a beer and a fried dish.

This restaurant is a favorite of mine in the summer. The outdoor seating is great for a nice lunch or dinner. My waiter during my last visit Brian was great, and so were his looks! He even went out of his way to pull up a seat for a footrest so I could get some sun! So thoughtful! I would recommend this spot to anyone!

Got a cheddar and guacamole burger for take-out here. It was done really quickly and just, well, absolutely HUGE -- the size of my head! The burger was nice and juicy and delicious. The guacamole, however, didn't add any value to the burger -- actually looked kinda gross and old -- and didn't contribute positively to the flavoring, which is why I'm taking away 1 star. If I hadn't paid a whole dollar extra for the guac, the burger would have been a great value for $9. Had lunch here a while ago in the dining room and it was pretty decent too. Server was friendly and service was quick. The buffalo chicken sandwich I got didn't stand out in particular, though, but once again the portion was generous. Would recommend coming here over nearby competitors in Marina Bay.

I love eating outdoors, and Captain Fishbones has outdoor seating with a great view right on the boardwalk at the Marina. So, I was excited to go there for breakfast on a Sunday. I was highly disappointed with the food. They have a breakfast buffet, which has a very limited selection (eggs, bacon, sausage, bagels), and a few other made-to-order items. They charge everyone $9.99, regardless of what you eat. Unfortunately, the food was bad and virtually unedible. Only the view saved it from being a complete disaster. Maybe drinks here are okay (since how can you mess those up). But, I would avoid the food here.

I went with a friend to dinner at Marina Bay. He had already been to Siros and Skyline and wanted to go someplace new so he asked if Captain Fishbone's was ok. I agreed to go so he could try it. When we gave our order to the waitress, the waitress didn't think, when some asks for the price of the lobster ravioli and then says "Ok, I will order that", that it is a real order. So when my dinner and the appetizer we ordered came out, his ravioli did not. We asked the waitress after a few minutes where it was and she said it would be right out. She did not acknowledge that she forgot until she brought the meal out. I had salmon with a dill sauce and mashed potatoes. The salmon was the best part about the dish along with the martini I had. The mashed potatoes were dry and the dill sauce was bland. We should have gone to one of the other places that has better food and a better view. The outside bar seemed crowded for a Sunday evening, so going to the outdoor bar for a drink seems to be the better choice.

My favorite thing about Captain Fishbones is how well rounded it is. It is on the water, good inside/outside bar scene, decent food, excellent drinks and they even deliver. They even have some cool little things such as raffles and keno). Also the prices are actually fair considering where it is located. It is also very cool there in the summer because the "high maintenance" people don't hang out there. (For those who have hung in the Marina over the years, you know whom i'm talking about. The ones that reek of attitude and beg for you to pay attention to them). I like to tell them to close the high school year book, no one likes them anymore:-) If I could recommend one thing. Try the twice fried wings. They are awesome!! It is too bad the summer is over. I love going there after a day of boating to have even more cocktails!

  • Tricia N.

I have been there a few times. For both lunch and dinner. The food is OK. The salads are pretty standard. The fish is fresh. The wine selection is kinda limited. I guess I keep going back mostly for the location. I would give it 2 stars for the food...but I am upping it to 3 stars for the location. This place is a good casual place for a beer & a bite after a day out on the boat.

A drink on the deck with some great seafood is what the Summer is all about. During the day or at night this place is fantastic. I wish I had something to complain about but there really wasn't anything wrong. The waitress was a bit weird referring everything to the person I was with instead of both of us..but that has nothing to really do with the restaurant..more to do with the waitress.

Saturday 1/22, party of 12, 6pm Reservations. Waitress: Megan Terrible service. Waitress was nice but CLUELESS - inattentive waitress, items ordered but never delivered, had to request our drink refills multiple times, table not cleared Food was JUST ok and was served lukewarm. Took nearly 4 hours to order, eat and pay. A Baked potato served with tarter sauce. Pizza was over cooked. Wouldn't return or recommend to a friend.

Love Captain Fishbones! View is great, food is great, and our bartender Jolene was awesome! ! Today's lunch was the shrimp scampi, and what I like most was that it was not smothered with a lot of "stuff", good sized portion and the clam chowder is awesome. Summer of course is the best with a boardwalk seating out by the marina, but we always visit once during the off-season and today's visit did not disappoint. Keno and lots of TV's is always a big plus for my reviews.

Still go here on Sunday for the brunch, however what was a bargain at $6.99 is now $9.99. It use to be $6.99 for the buffet mentioned in previous review, and as mentioned in the previous review everything else was $2.99 extra, we would only eat from the buffet for the $6.99. NOW at $9.99 everything is included, even the made to order items. I am now paying the extra money for the things I don't eat.

I saw this restaurant off the highway and got such a kick out of the name I forced my bf take me there. We actually went for V-day a few years ago. Despite the wacky name, the ambiance inside is pretty nice. I love how the silverware has little fishtails....very cute. I think the food here is average, but the cocktails are very good and they don't skimp on the booze :) They actually had a raffle the night we went and we ended up winning the grand prize which was a $100 gift certificate...my bf got out easy that night and didn't have to pay!! hehe....we returned to try out their brunch buffet with the remaining $$ and it was pretty decent for a buffet....good price and lots of options. One thing I really didn't like is that we ordered the caramel apple cheesecake on vday and they said that it was still frozen so they couldnt serve it to us.....umm....that's not acceptable. If we hadnt won the $100 gift card, I'd probably have given this place 2 stars.

Yes, happy hour has cheap appetizers for 99 cents. The food is ok, nothing mind blowing and stick to simple orders. They also deliver to us locals, but sometimes takes way too long to drive a few blocks which make me feel fat for not getting up off the couch to have take out. The bar is nice, but small, so get seated in their outdoor section in the summer to hang out with your friends. It's not a destination, but somewhere to stop by if you are hungry. FYI: Don't forget to ask for dinner rolls. Because sometimes they "forget" to bring them out.

  • Jen G.

The ONLY reason it is getting 2 stars is because you can sit on the patio and look out on the Marina. The food is waaaay overpriced, our waitress was ditzy, the waitress at the table next to us had a loud, booming voice and told the table (who was a couple who obviously wanted to spend time alone) her entire life story, and the food wasnt even good. I got 6 fried shrimp and a small baked potato and it was 14.99 - definitely not worth it. Maybe just for drinks it would be ok, but try sitting at the bar and skip the food.

Great location in Marina Bay, Its cool to come down to the bar in the summer during game nights with friends. However the food here is terrible and the service is below average. I've had undercooked food here on multiple occasions and there have been a few times when I would have bet money that some of the ingredients in my dish were past their expiration date.

We went for restaurant week. It was the last day. We called in advance to see if they were still honoring the restaurant week specials/deal (two complete meals for $30, which would have included appetizer, entree, and desert) and they said they were still honoring it. We then immediately made reservations for eight and showed up ten minutes later. They informed us, after we looked at the menu for about ten minutes, that they suddenly had "none" of the restaurant week specials. They stated they were in fact "out of all of the food." That means they suddenly had no "surf and turf", "fried chicken", or "stuffed sole, this would also include their appetizers which were the wedge salad, clam chowder, etc...." This was so frustrating as we had all already picked our entree selections and many of us wanted items from that menu. Then we were thrusted into ordering alternative options (and spending more money), and were again informed ten minutes later that they ran out of salmon, swordfish, and some other very common fish for a seafood restaurant. This again made some people at the table have to change their food selections. That made me more irate. After being terribly annoyed because we had been there already twenty minutes with sheer disappointment, I finally settled on the captains table salad (basically a chef salad since the seafood at this seafood restaurant was hard to come by.) So I then asked if they had avocado (as it mentioned on the menu that this salad comes with it when they have it.) The waitress went and checked and luckily enough they did. Our drinks went dry and stayed dry for the rest of dinner until towards the end when we finally got our soda and waters refilled. We were one table of two in the restaurant so it was not busy at all. When my salad came, there was no avocado apparent. I told the waitress not to worry about it because the salad was huge and it could be there, just buried. I was also so aggravated and wanted to eat dinner at this point, since it had been at least 45 minutes since we had arrived and very late as well. Per my asking her not to bother, the waitress still went and got me more avocado. It was not ripe enough to enjoy eating. My friend ordered a steak "medium" and she got it cooked "well done". My husband said his chicken parm and he said it tasted like plastic. So despite all that, I loved the location of the restaurant, it is right on the boardwalk of the ocean, loved the ambiance, loved the decor, loved my company and even the waitress was nice and friendly, but if you can't keep food in stock that is core to being a seafood restaurant, then what the heck are you doing? We should have been informed on the phone that they ran out of the restaurant week specials when I asked about them ten minutes prior to arriving. We should have been informed when we sat down immediately that they were out of so much food..... We should have been compensated somehow, someway to make up for it, which would have prevented me from writing this review to save others from spending $50 for salad and chicken parm, and really feeling like you should have stayed in and made dinner and saved the money, especially in these economic times......

If you want to be on Marina Bay without the pretention of the other restaurants there or the meat market of young singles at Water Works, grab some beers and simple seafood at Captain Fishbone's. The menu is actually very long with all sorts of food options, from salads and sandwiches to pizza and pasta to seafood. Prices are reasonable and they have pint-sized souvenir beer glasses for you to keep when you buy a large draft. (Actually, they are nice enough to wrap up a clean one). They also do a decent brunch. Not really a place to hike to, but if you happen to live or be in the area or feel like dining casually on the water, this is a good pick. Don't bother with dessert though. Instead, walk off your lunch or dinner on the boardwalk and check out the homemade ice cream stand for a scoop (or two).

I recently had take-out lunch at this establishment w/ the hope of enjoying a nice turkey tip entree only to have my taste buds suffocated by my meals bland taste. The tips are extremely plain, with the hints of flavor being the peppers it's infused with. The blandness was equally complimented with a nice dry taste; which requires 10 oz of water with each ingested tip to move down the human esophagus. The fries were clearly bought in mass bulk, and we're undercooked. The mushrooms has the texture of canned goods. That aside, I've experience some good meals here before, but I guess ordering turkey tips in a seafood restaurant was poor consumer judgment.

Captain Fishbones might have a nice view but that is where it ends. The drinks were watered down and all ice. The food was average at best. The soup was just OK. The clams were tasteless. I will not be going back to this place again.

I am a very lucky guy for the obvious reasons. I have a good family, good friends, people who love me, blah blah blah. BUT during the summer months I am even MORE lucky because guess what I have? Friends with boats. That's right NYAAAH and you don't!! Anyway one of my friends who we'll call Mr. Blue has a boat. He and his brother Mr. Green met me at Capt. Fishbones to drink before boating the other day and for some reason Mr. Green keeps inviting this guy and his stripper girlfriend every fucking time I get away which is really rare so I don't see why Mr. Blue keeps inviting me when I have no tolerance for good, nice people let alone bloated, big mouthed, talk too much crap, pretentious show off, she's only with you because of money, why don't you let go of her arm because your afraid she'll try and leave with me shit head shut up already for chrissake guys. But man what a beautiful outside, overlooking the water bar. I love the ambiance. I drank really expensive drinks and ate apps then when it was time to boat I didn't reach into my pocket. That's right Mr. Blue there will be a toll to pay from now on. I told him this later. Don't involve me in the madness. Tell Mr. Green to invite our FRIENDS not this guy any more or you pay the bill. So this place ,outside bar only gets a thumbs up. Marina Bay is great. Make friends with boat people. It is so gorgeous out there in the harbor. We boated out to Tia's where I stepped into a hole in the dock and may have broken my foot. It still hurts. It was worth it though. I'll review Tia's later. This made me want to lie down. Good night.

we took my mom here for mothers day this past weekend. it turned out to be one of the longest dinners ever. we had a reservation at 5 and didnt end up leaving until after 7, with no coffee, dessert or dilly dallying on our part. service was slow and mediocre to be kind. we never got the specials, bread, and had to ask to place our appetizer order (on top of the fact that we heard servers wishing moms a happy mothers day but nothing for our mom). we all ordered a seafood dish, nothing overly complicated (fish and chips, fisherman's platter, baked scrod etc). apps came fairly quickly but easily waited 45 mins after we finished them for our meals. unacceptable. they were ok but not worth the wait and the service, not to mention the bathrooms were horribly dirty and messy. we've been before for breakfast and don't remember the experience anything like this past visit. very disappointing and probably will not return.

They have an outdoor seating area on the boardwalk. It's nice to sit out there at night and have bar food and drinks. The food is good and the service is excellent.

with a name like captain fishbones, you can't really expect much, but i at least expected the shrimp i ordered to be de-veined, which they were not, and it was totally off-putting. if i were to go back, i'd stick to something safe, like french fries. the only thing that is nice about this place is the view.

i was not impressed. we sat outside next to the dirty green water, but the weather was nice.. not that im giving the restaurant credit for that but it did make things more tolerable. the waitress was friendly and nice. the food was pretty bad. we had king alaskan crab legs... terrible. like they got the last pick of the catch or something. two of the 6 legs i got were like half legs. the rest had hardly any meat and NO TASTE. AT ALL. a salad with grilled chicken... lets say it was almost a salad. three cherry tomatoes, three slices of cucumber, and like 4 tiny shreds of chicken. r u kidding me? then the baked scrod... it looked like someone ate the other half of my portion . i was pisssed. the mashe potatoes were good..as the only side on my plate, maybe thats why i loved them. ordered an extra side of "veggies"...it was like a spoonful of sauteed zucchini! WTF. there was a 2pound baked stuffed lobster ordered wich was ok i guess... the stuffing was not great. and @ $50.00 i would have expected better. amazingly, the only thing that was actually any good was the fried chicken wings!!?? at a waterfront place named "fishbones" the best thing they can serve is barfood.... that says it all. this place sucks.

Right on the water in Quincy's Marina Bay area...we had crab cakes, fried clams, halibut, and steak tips and everyone was impressed with their meals. Outdoor seating and nice decor, albeit a tad dark the night we ate there. Service was good and felt like a regular haunt.

me and my husband also went here for restaurant week. and we were completely disappointed. first off i think our waitress had to cancel a vacation to come and wait on us because it was obvious we were bothering her from the start. mind you the place was close to empty so you would think she would enjoy something to do.......no. when we finally got our drinks we placed our order for appetizers. when they finally came out 10 minutes later (we both got salads) she took our order for food. so needless to say after we finished our appetizers it took 23 minutes to get our food (and yes i did time it) my husband got the surf and turf. it was a piece of steak with two pieces of shrimp thrown next to it. no love at all. looking around the restaurant and having been here before the quality/quantity of our food was way below average and when we realized they forgot his side of mashed we asked the waitress "doesn't this come with mashed potatoes?" she replied "oh" and walked away. she did bring them and they were a little above room temp but whatever. and let me mention the fact that she brought us our bill without asking us if we wanted anything else and without giving us our dessert WHICH COMES WITH THE MEAL. of all the choices of restaurant we had we chose captain fishbones and we were wrong. besides never going there again and telling anyone who is thinking of going there to reconsider i am very offended at the fact that they even signed up for restaurant week. wasn't the point of it to promote all the great dining there is in Quincy and for the restaurants themselves get some extra business in these sucky economic times??. they obviously had no desire to get new customers or even please the customers they already had. legal seafoods here we come!!!!

Service was downright awful tonight. I went on Wednesday and it was great- constant refills on drinks etc. Tonight is a Saturday night. Took 20 min for the bartender to look me in the face even though I had a 10 dollar bill in one hand and my debit card in the other waving it around. I asked for two pineapple infused vodkas and a bud light.. Bartender said ok... Then opened 4 coronas for other patrons... Then two budlights for the other side of the bar... Then the other bartender asked what I wanted and I said, well I put my order in with the the brunette bartender but she opened about six beers since I put in the order... Then the brunette overheard this and said to the blonde "she can f****'g wait.." Oh, ok. You're working for tips, right? So I got a table. Figured service would be faster. Got nachos and 3 beers. 30 min later, nachos come, no napkins no plates and no sign of the waitress. She walked by us THrEE times before I had to flag her down and ask her for napkins, plates, and waters. There aren't enough tables outside for anyone to get overwhelmed enough to not bring plates and napkins to a table with a running tab of food and drinks. I went to go close out my tab at the bar before paying for my food and the bartenders were texting and talking trash about the patrons. Whole experience was awful. I won't be back.

The service was good, we didnt have to wait too long for anything, nor did we feel rushed. I got the balsamic grilled salmon, and it was a huge portion and very fresh. I also tried the clam chowder which was delicious. I'm picky about my "chowda" but this was perfectly creamy, just the right potato/clam ratio. And it is served with a cut out fish crouton. Very cute idea.

Save your money. The food is not good at all and neither are the prices. The location and view are great. I stopped in on a cold wintry day but I'm sure AlFresco dining in the summer is a different experience. The clam roll was tasteless, the coleslaw looked homemade but was very very soggy. The chili was bland and unseasoned. The brie and london broil croissant was a cold mess with greenish cheese. The horseradish sauce had a mayonaisse texture. We each left our meals after a few bites. Nothing really wrong...and nothing at alll right.

The name just made me laugh, but the real reason to visit Captain Fishbones is so you can sit on the outdoor deck by the marina... in the sun. It was our first stop after arriving in Boston and it really kicked off the vacation on a good note. Most of the negative reviews occurred in the restaurant, so I'd recommend you just give it a pass unless you can chill on the deck for an hour. This isn't to say that the food is the best thing ever. Actually my two dining companions weren't thrilled with their meals, but my crab cakes were just fine. So I guess I was the lucky one. What would normally be a two has become a three because of location, location, location. If we visited on a rainy day and ate in the restaurant, this would probably be an entirely different review.

1st visit to Capt. Fish Bones. Beautiful summer day, sat out in the deck overlooking the Marina. That was the best part. Great views. Friendly faces. Wish I could be as kind about the service and the food. Our waitress was friendly enough but after sitting there for 45 minutes (actual time I promise) and after her telling us our food would be right out several times we asked if something was wrong. Something was wrong. She forgot to put in our order. Totally slipped her mind. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the busiest it was about a 6. She apologized again and said she put a rush in the order. Never a good idea. Chicken was under cooked, fried oysters were undercooked. Manager came over to ask if was all ok. We had to tell him chicken was undercooked. He commented "it didn't look undercooked". Anyways without complaining too much they comped us one entree. Wish we had walked a little further down the boardwalk to one of the other restaurants. Now we know.

There is nothing outrageously wrong with this place, there are just way better options out there. The menu is extensive but I'd rather have less options that are cooked really well. Right now they have a lot that all comes out tasting like something from the 99 or Applebee's. Like the menu, the decor is dated. Has the feel of a place my Dad would like because nothing's changed since he started going there. Only positive - the outside bar. As a thirty-something who enjoys good food and going out for a drink, I would not recommend.

We have been coming here for years so our review is based on over 15 years of experience. This is a really nice restaurant and bar. The place recently added a nice function room with a Boston harbor view. We have always found the food to be well prepared, good and fresh. They have really great early bird specials all for around $10.00 or so. There are appetizer specials for $.99 and $1.99 with the purchase of two beverages before 6 pm. Their is a good selection of draft beer all at affordable prices and very cold. Their regular dinner entrees are priced comparable to other restaurants in the $16.00 to $22.00 range however the portions are large and the food is good. Rolls are also served. The waitstaff consists mostly of young women and a few young men, all of whom have given us courteous and efficient service over the many years we have been coming here. This is a great place to come anytime and has a nice energy level with people around enjoying themselves. After your meal you can stroll down the boardwalk and watch the boats and the sunset. Unlike going into Boston, there is free and ample parking available. We highly recommend this restaurant and hope you enjoy it as well.

I was in need of some lobster on a gorgeous sunday summer afternoon and my husband suggested this place with a side note: "The food won't be awesome, but it won't be bad either." We have been to the Marina a bunch of times for afternoon cocktails, but this was my first time eating at any of the restaurants. We really just wanted a table on the water, some food, and corona's. Luckily when we arrived at 3:30pm, an outside table had just opened up. We grabbed it and didn't leave until almost 11:00pm. I got the Lobster Club and my husband got the Grilled Oysters. I asked for a salad instead of fries (trying to be good) but they said they would charge me for that switch. I could either have coleslaw or grilled veggies. I asked for a combination of both and the waitresses head looked like it could've exploded. She said one only so I asked for the coleslaw. My food came and the plate was covered in fries and when I pointed out their mistake, they said they'd bring a side of coleslaw but it never showed up. Food: The lobster club was average and for $17 there should have been more lobster (a few tiny pieces were found in the top layer of the sandwich). My husband really liked his grilled oysters and around 10:00pm some friends ordered a pizza and some crab and spinach dip. The pizza was actually really good (but way over priced at $19 for an average sized veggie pizza) and the crab and spinach dip tasted like dry spinach with no crab. Atmosphere: Fantastic. The sun was shining, the sunset was spectacular, it really is a great place to spend a Sunday. Service: Other than the fries incident, our waitress was great and never left us sitting with an empty beer. All in all, the setting is why you should come here. Next time I'll order a basic $10 sandwich to keep the table and I'll continue to enjoy what this place has to offer.

I've been a steady customer over many years but I've been recently really disappointed with the quality and value of the seafood. I don't know if this is because it's winter. For a $20 seafood plate, my expectations are to be served fresh fish. My last two experiences have proven otherwise....the fish, scallops, and shrimp all seemed to have been freeze dried. They were not tender nor tasty and the portion size was fair. I raised my complaint to the manager to get a gift certificate to go back....Meanwhile, for drinks, it's a fine place to go particularly in the summer.

Yesterday was a nice day to sit outside - so we went to Marina Bay. We had been to CF before - and the food was OK - but you couldn't beat the location. I still do not understand why restaurants split all of the tables outside across their waitstaff - it leads to horrible service as they have a bunch of tables inside and just the one outside ... Our waitress was good - - but it was a no-win situation. The food was mediocre at best - cheese steak overdone, fish was rubbery. The fries were good though ... What got me was the 45 minutes of extra waiting - from drinks to the meal to getting the check to waiting for the check to be taken to waiting for the credit card to come back... Too much waiting to complain about your food - we were too hungry and desperate. Another minus - CF does not do free refills on their watered-down sodas - and given the amount of time we had to wait - would it have been to much to comp us the one refill?

This place has some quality seafood. The location is right on the water and they have a good amount of outdoor seating along the water. The bar area was busy (Bruins playoff game) but we only had to wait for a table 10 mins on a busy Saturday night. The prices are probably a bit steep for the amount of food you get in return, but the clamstrips were perfectly fried. I'd go back when the craving for seafood hits. The service was great, friendly staff and food came quick.

went on sat night, nice night out so we sat on the patio w a great view of the marina. bf got the 2 lb baked stuffed lobster, I a sonoma salad (mixed greens, goat cheese, apples, tomato) w blackened salmon added to it. My salad was fine, not great but not bad. bf loved his lobster and joked, he hoped market price was kind to him! by the size of the lobster we were guessing it to be in the $50-$60 range. The bill came and we were pleasantly surprised to see that it was 37! Great value for lobster right on the water! No free re fills on the soda though, which I wasn't warned about! Service was fine, would probably go back when we get a lobster craving.

Got seats at the bar while waiting for our table for dinner and 4 bartenders didn't acknowledge us for almost 5 minutes. The male bartender was to busy flirting with 2 young girls. Then we finally were seated and put an appetizer In and it took at least 30 minutes. Also the waitress was more into lighting our candle instead of taking our entree order. I do not recommend the shrimp scampi. I have frequented this restaurant many times and the past 2 times the service was terrible.

The views of the water from the boardwalk bar and front outside dining area are the real attraction here. The food? Meh. The nachos were standard... generous portion and loaded with cheese, jalapenos and refried beans. I ordered the fish tacos and ended up getting served the shrimp tacos which were good but I was annoyed that my order was wrong and that there is a 4 price different between the fish tacos and the shrimp tacos. Luckily the mistake was the kitchen's and it worked in my favor. 2 small tacos for 12 bucks though? Ouch. My friend ordered the salmon with a cucumber dill sauce. The salmon was served to her sans sauce. The waitress kindly offered to go grab the sauce and returned to tell us that they were out and perhaps another sauce would compliment the salmon. Disappointing. In my opinion the kitchen should have let us know prior to serving her the meal and allow her to make another selection if desired. Especially for almost 20 bucks for salmon and a bowl of rice pilaf... I drank wine but my friends margarita was basically sour mix with a splash of tequila. Yuck. Doubt I'll be back to eat but maybe for a few drinks on the deck. Maybe.

We've only been here for drinks, so cant speak for the food, but the drinks were good, service was relatively attentive, and the view was nice. It was a nice place to relax and chat during a summer weekday evening. Prices were a bit steep though.

Location and views are really nice and makes me glad I live in this area where you can have lunch on the ocean anytime. Food was good but nothing to rave about. I had a lunch special of an oyster roll which was about 7 or 8 fried oysters in a hot dog roll and a side of fries for $9.99. On the Cape the same meal would have run $13-14 so it was ok. Service was pleasant and effecient. Just next door is Squantum State Park which is basically just a few walking trails and a nice wooden pier jutting into the bay. Its a little scrappy looking (it is a State park) and could use some tlc but has great views of Boston and UMass and the harbor islands.

Last week I spent a glorious sneaky Thursday afternoon on Captain Fishbone's outdoor patio. called out sick to work, then called my friend and we decided to pretend to be ladies who lunch. Got to marina bay around noon and settled in at Fishbones for a long lazy afternoon of gossiping. i can happily report that I was buzzed by 12:30. this spot has incredible views of the marina and the bay as well as being a choice spot for some serious people watching. Bob Marley was playing...and there was just this cool, relaxed and fun vibe going on. Everyone seemed to be in a great mood including the staff. service was perfect -friendly and helpful but not overbearing and they let us take our time and wile the afternoon away. I had some sort of grilled asparagus salad with grilled chicken. supposed to come with mozzarella but my thoughts were that it would be far better with goat cheese. they acquiesced! I can't think of a better way to spend a sunny afternoon then with my bff sipping corona's with lime looking out over the bay.

The service was really slow, over 45 minutes before entrees arrived after we ordered, but the food was tasty when it finally arrived. I may give the restaurant another shot when the weather gets warmer and I can try the outdoor seating on the boardwalk.
